Hi mate,

Are you looking to model the steel elements of this building? Or are you looking to model both the concrete and steel elements of this structure?

I would suggest using two separate templates here – 1 for the concrete slab on the floor and balconies, assume 100mm thick and 40MPa unless otherwise noted.

For the steel frame – use your bill of materials to see how many kg of steel is involved. Try your best to break it down into different types of steel (i.e. ‘heavy’, ‘medium’ and ‘light’) and use appropriate templates accordingly. It’s often best to create your own template for the steel frame (using Rawlinsons handbook for construction estimates) as two buildings are often really different in the amount of steel they have – so scaling by m2 sometimes isn’t great. However, it’s not the end of the world since 80% of steel is recovered and the CO2e figures aren’t that large in comparison to the concrete sections.

TLDR; focus on getting the concrete sections correct, make your own templates for the steel frame but don’t spend too long in doing so.

Hope this helps.
