Motivation (why we need this feature): At big projects, family types are usually following name conventions mandated by the project's BIM execution plan. As such, sometimes they are not easily readable and hence difficult to assign a template. As in such projects the description parameter is normally populated, it would help the user identify what these types are and map them with the appropriate template., Which regions need the feature?: Global, Which projects types does the feature support?: Buildings, Fit Outs, Landscaping, Which ratings systems require the feature?: N/A,
Currently the plugin send the familyt type name to eToolLCD. It would very useful if would also send the family type description parameter.

Hi Henrique, yes, it’s the family type details we need. The plugin currently gets the family type name only which sometimes follows a specific name convention. If it could also get the “description” parameter it would be quite useful for the mapping process.
I met with 2 BIM modellers and they said that usually the details are included in the family type. For example, the family for external wall has many different family types for the different wall types (concrete block, solid concrete, etc) and the detail of the area is included at the family type level, not the family level.
